A fair and sustainable transition: 20 innovative startups from Morocco and Tunisia

Innovation is the driving force behind the ecological transition: it allows businesses and territories to change pace, experiment with new production models, and build development pathways that are fairer and more inclusive. A topic that Ecomondo has long placed at the centre of its activities – both through initiatives that engage the community throughout the year, and during the major annual event in Rimini, where the most promising solutions earn visibility and spark rich exchanges and collaborations.

Within this framework, the 2025 edition hosted, inside the Innovation District, twenty startups from Morocco and Tunisia, selected through the Lab Innova for Africa Luca Attanasio” program promoted by the Italian Trade Agency (ICE) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. For these companies, the exhibition served as an exclusive showcase: an opportunity to present their technologies, build connections, and engage with an international green economy ecosystem in rapid evolution.

These startups operate across a wide range of sectors – from circular economy to agritech, from mobility to medtech, as well as ICT and cleantech – with a common ambition: contributing, each with its own expertise, to a more sustainable, fair, and inclusive transition.

Lab Innova for Africa “Luca Attanasio”
Lab Innova for Africa “Luca Attanasio” is a technical and managerial training program launched in 2019 and now dedicated to the memory of Ambassador Luca Attanasio, honouring his commitment to strengthening cooperation across the Mediterranean. For Attanasio, collaboration was not only a strategic necessity but also an opportunity to build a fairer, more equitable, and sustainable future. Over seven years, the program has involved more than 500 companies in 18 African countries, fostering skills development, internationalisation, and the creation of industrial partnerships with Italy. In Morocco and Tunisia in particular – where recent editions have focused on ICT and agribusiness – Lab Innova has contributed to the creation of an ecosystem of innovative, tech-driven, impact-oriented startups.
