Italy–China Circular Economy Forum
The first edition of the Italy-China Circular Economy Forum, organized by Ecomondo and ITA - Italian Trade Agency, concluded on June 12 in Shanghai after two intensive days dedicated to dialogue and the development of new business opportunities between Italy and China in the environmental protection and circular economy sectors.
The initiative saw the participation of 8 Italian companies, featured in a program full of content and networking opportunities, designed to facilitate the exchange of expertise with some of the main Chinese players in the sector and to promote new industrial and commercial collaborations.
A strategic opportunity to take the first step and strengthen one’s presence in China.
A highly qualified context that allowed for an in-depth exploration of key topics, market trends, strategies, and potential areas of collaboration between Europe and China.

Second day
First Day
The first day opened with institutional greetings from Commercial Consul Stefania Martelliti, the Director of the ITA Agency Office in Shanghai Fabio De Cillis, and representatives from the Shanghai Academy of Sciences, including Dr. Corrado Clini, Distinguished Scientist and former Minister of the Environment, as well as a visiting professor at Tsinghua University. Following this, under the moderation of Emanuele Bompan, Editor-in-Chief of Renewable Matter, presentations alternated between Italian and Chinese companies, associations, and institutions. Through data, case studies, and practical examples, the speakers illustrated the state of the art and collaboration prospects between the two countries in strategic areas such as decarbonization, material recovery and recycling —including the textile sector— energy efficiency, water treatment, and other technologies for environmental sustainability.
The afternoon was dedicated to an intensive B2B session, during which the 8 Italian companies had the opportunity to meet with over 70 pre-qualified Chinese buyers, generating numerous qualified contacts and tangible business development opportunities.
Second day
The second day featured a program of technical visits aimed at exploring some of the most advanced Chinese experiences in environmental innovation. The Italian delegation visited Jiading Hydrogen Park, a center of excellence specialized in the development of hydrogen technologies and fuel cells, before continuing to Shanghai Hydrogen Propulsion Technology Co., Ltd. and Shanghai Bosen Environmental Protection Technology Co., Ltd.
These visits provided a valuable opportunity for direct engagement with leading industrial players in the Chinese market, allowing participating companies to deepen their understanding of technologies currently under development and their planned future implementations in the fields of clean energy and environmental protection.
