Francesco Fatone

Francesco Fatone is Full Professor of Chemical-Environmental Engineering and Coordinator of the PhD Program in Civil, Environmental, Building Engineering and Architecture at Polytechnic University of Marche (Italy). Since 2013, he and the WWEELab have raised over €14 million from EU-funded projects and more than €2 million from private funding.
He coordinated the Horizon 2020 Innovation Action SMART-Plant and ADRION AMOCEAB, and has served as WP/Task Leader in several Horizon Europe, Horizon 2020, PRIMA, Water JPI, LIFE and ENI CBC MED projects. He has also contributed to more than 15 international R&D&I projects.
Francesco is Editor-in-Chief of H2Open Journal (IWA Publishing) and has served as Associate or Guest Editor for journals including Water Research, Process Biochemistry, and Water Science and Technology. He is an IWA Fellow and has chaired major international conferences, including IWA ecoSTP2014, the 3rd European Nutrient Event, and the 3rd IWA Resource Recovery Conference.
He is or has been General Secretary of the IWA Resource Recovery from Water Cluster, co-leader of the Water Europe 'Value in Water' Cluster, co-leader of the ICT4WATER Business Models WG, member of the Ecomondo Executive Board with responsibility for the Water thematic area, Water JPI Management Board member, and Leader of the Circular Water VLT in Water Europe.
He is Doctor Honoris Causa at the Technical University of Iasi, member of the Joint Committee of Science and Technology for IFWS and Yellow River EIC (China), and member of the Italian National Technical Committee for Environmental Impact Assessment.
He has authored over 180 Scopus-indexed papers, with more than 7,000 citations and an H-index of 47, and has been invited speaker or scientific committee member at more than 30 international conferences.
