From Data to Decisions: National Infrastructure and Local Applications for a Data-Driven Public Administration

Ravezzi 2 South Hall

Governing with Data: Practical Tools for the Public Administration

The event, focused on the use of data as a concrete lever for transforming public administration, is intended for public administrators, executives, technical experts, researchers, and private-sector professionals, with the aim of presenting real-world case studies in which new data-driven approaches are improving decision-making, services, urban planning, environmental management, and public investment. Priority will be given to an approach aimed at building a platform for civic innovation by presenting tested models, replicable practices, and measurable impacts in order to maximize the participation of officials and administrators—both public and private—including through targeted incentives (professional development recognition, applied workshops, institutional networking opportunities, and the promotion of best practices), thereby fostering a national community centered on the theme of data-driven governance.
Thus, the event will focus on how public administrations can move beyond data collection toward structured decision intelligence. Key questions that will be addressed:
•    How can municipalities and regions use integrated data systems to simulate policy outcomes before implementation?
•    How can georeferenced and real-time data improve transparency in public spending and urban transformation?
•    How can predictive analytics support risk management (climate, infrastructure, demographics, social services)?
•    What governance models ensure trust, accountability, and interoperability across institutions?
The edition will feature concrete cases from Italian and European administrations that have shifted from reporting to forecasting, from static planning to dynamic governance.
