Event
For the third consecutive year, the scientific community, public institutions, and Adriatic fisheries stakeholders are gathering at ECOMONDO to share and discuss open issues related to the sustainable management of marine litter, caught or produced in Adriatic fishing ports. Best practices developed in fishing ports, validated pilot experiences transferable to other port contexts, and environmental peer education models are among the topics for discussion and discussion. In the Adriatic Sea, marine litter pollution also represents a growing threat to the marine ecosystem and key sectors such as fishing and tourism. Addressing this problem requires close collaboration between countries that share the same basin, as is the case for Italy and Croatia in the Adriatic with the project "FishNoWaste: Waste reduction and management in Adriatic Sea fishing ports to promote sustainable fishing," funded by the European Union under the Interreg European Territorial Cooperation Programme. This project is supported by the synergy between municipalities, fishing cooperatives, research institutions, and companies responsible for waste collection and disposal, to ensure effective management of marine litter in fishing ports.
