Capacity building actions and interventions for the sustainable development of coastal communities

Agorà Blue Economy Hall B7

The Capacity building is a process that aims to strengthen the capacities and skills of public and private stakeholders so that they can effectively manage natural resources, promote resilience and address sustainable development challenges.

Applied to coastal communities, the process is essential to develop strategies that address local issues, such as climate change, fisheries and aquaculture management, sustainable tourism and marine ecosystem protection. Involving the European and Italian CLLD (Community Led Local Development), called GALPA (Fisheries and Aquaculture Action Groups) and included in priority 3 of the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFAF 2021/2027), the experiential models and strategies activated in the field of training and awareness of local communities, in the sustainable management of fisheries and marine resources, in sustainable tourism and management of natural resources but also in integrated coastal zone management (ICZM) and also in environmental research and monitoring and in the creation of blue infrastructures where necessary, will be addressed.

The event aims to improve local skills, promote active participation, and develop practical solutions that favor the conservation of the marine environment and the prosperity of coastal communities.
