Event
With the collaboration of:
Mattei Plan Task Force at the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Confindustria Assafrica & Mediterraneo, RES4Africa
Building on Italy’s long-standing partnership with African nations, the Mattei Plan promotes a new model of cooperation based on mutual development, shared prosperity, and joint action for climate resilience. Within this framework, the Africa Green Growth Forum serves as a platform to foster dialogue between governments, development institutions, and the private sector to advance sustainable growth and inclusive energy access across the continent.
Access to reliable and affordable energy remains a critical challenge in Sub-Saharan Africa with nearly 600 million people living without access to electricity and large segments of the population live in rural areas where energy infrastructure is lacking.
Improving access to energy access to these communities means access to clean water and sanitation but also stimulates rural development through agricultural mechanization, value-added processing, and the growth of a sustainable local value chain.
This new edition of the Forum will highlight the sustainable and clean energy access initiatives in Africa promoted under the Mattei Plan and the Program “Mission 300”, a multilateral program led by the World Bank and the African Development Bank that aims to provide clean and reliable electricity to 300 million people in Sub-Saharan Africa by 2030.
Through this partnership, the Forum will explore how coordinated public and private investments can unlock new opportunities for sustainable development, improving living conditions, reduce poverty, and foster inclusive economic growth. The alignment between the Mattei Plan and Mission 300 underscores Italy’s strong commitment to supporting Africa’s clean energy transformation and to promoting a just and equitable energy transition across the continent.
The event builds on the actions and commitments made during the 2025 Africa Head of State Energy Summit, held in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania and reaffirms Italy’s long-standing cooperation with African Partners and major International Financing Institutions (IFIs) in advancing shared objectives for sustainable growth and climate resilience.
