Permit, construction and refurbishment, complete service package: BST supports the development of biogas and biomethane in Italy and Europe

The energy transition is radically transforming the energy sector, and bioenergy now represents one of the most practical solutions for building a sustainable and innovative model. In this context, agricultural biogas and biomethane are taking on an increasingly strategic role through their ability to make the most of renewable resources, recover agricultural and industrial by-products, and contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and increasing the country’s energy self-sufficiency.

Biomethane, in particular, is emerging as a key player in decarbonisation: the growth of the sector, however, requires increasingly efficient, reliable and durable plants, as well as partners capable of supporting operators throughout the entire project lifecycle.

It is in this landscape that BST Srl has been operating since 2012 as an EPC contractor specialising in the construction of “turnkey” biogas and biomethane plants, providing experience, technical expertise and a vision focused on innovation.

A single partner for every stage of the project
One of the key features of BST is the comprehensive range of services offered. The company goes beyond simply constructing the plant; it supports the client at every stage of the process: from the initial analysis to the design phase, from the planning permission process to construction, right through to commissioning, incentive management and subsequent administrative obligations.

This integrated approach allows the company to offer truly “turnkey” solutions, providing a single point of contact able to coordinate all the activities required to develop a complex energy project.

Thanks to the expertise of its technical team, BST is also able to support the plants even after commissioning, with a dedicated support and maintenance service. Over 50 plants are currently supported by the company’s service department, which carries out more than 500 service calls a year, ensuring operational continuity, efficiency and long-term value.

Stainless steel: a distinctive technological choice
Another element that makes BST’s offering unique is the use of AISI 304 and AISI 316 Ti stainless steel in the construction of its systems.

This choice is based on a desire to offer solutions characterised by high strength, reliability and durability: stainless steel guarantees excellent performance in particularly aggressive environments, reduces maintenance requirements and contributes to greater system efficiency throughout its operational life.

For BST, this material is not merely a construction feature, but a defining element of the company’s philosophy: to design robust, high-performance systems capable of maintaining high-quality standards over the long term.

Complete solutions for biogas, biomethane and cogeneration
BST’s product range includes biomethane plants – both Greenfield and Brownfield – BST-branded biogas plants and small-scale BeST-branded plants.

The company also offers extensive experience in brownfield projects involving biomethane conversion, through customised solutions designed to improve and optimise existing plants: by carefully analysing the client’s requirements, it develops solutions aimed at enhancing the efficiency, reliability and profitability of plants already in operation. Finally, through the GeNEO brand, BST operates in the cogeneration sector as the exclusive distributor of Elektro Hagl cogeneration units, offering technologically advanced and highly efficient systems.

Experience, growth and new international opportunities
Over the years, BST has strengthened its presence in the Italian market thanks to a model based on technical expertise, high-quality construction and a focus on customer needs.

Today, the bioenergy sector must face new challenges and seize new opportunities: the development of biomethane, the use of local resources, integration with other energy systems and a growing focus on sustainability are key drivers for the coming years. For specialist EPC contractors such as BST, involved in the construction of biogas and biomethane plants, this evolution represents a significant opportunity for growth: the market’s focus is, in fact, shifting increasingly towards high-efficiency, durable plants designed to guarantee high performance throughout their entire lifecycle.

The expansion of the European biogas and biomethane market will require technology partners capable of combining experience, innovation and reliability. BST intends to contribute to this growth by offering its expertise as an EPC contractor, exporting a model based on integrated design, high-quality construction and stainless-steel plants, aiming to develop new partnerships in Spain and other rapidly expanding European markets.

See you at Ecomondo 2026
BST will be participating in Ecomondo 2026, at the Rimini Expo Centre from 3 to 6 November, at stand 310-411, HALL D5. Visitors will have the opportunity to meet the technical and sales team and learn more about the best technical solutions for their needs.
