Recent developments in geotechnical engineering for environmental protection and land safeguarding

Agorà Luciano Morselli - Sites & Soil Restoration Area Hall C1

In recent years, the development of innovative methods and technologies in the field of geotechnical engineering has received a significant boost in the context of land and environmental protection, particularly with a view to designing sustainable and resilient structures and interventions.

The conference, which is divided into two distinct sessions, is dedicated to these topics.
The first session, focused on landslide risk analysis and mitigation, addresses the latest advances in the assessment of risk to viaducts potentially affected by landslides, in the prediction of the inception of debris flows—also for early warning purposes—and in the advanced design of sustainable mitigation measures for debris flow risk.
The second session focuses on landfills and environmental applications and addresses the latest advances in the sustainable geotechnical design of new and existing landfills using innovative technologies and materials, in accordance with current performance-based regulations, with particular emphasis on proper and targeted geotechnical monitoring.

Session Chairs

Daniele Cazzuffi, CESI SpA, Milan and President of AGI-IGS
Nicola Moraci, Mediterranea University of Reggio Calabria and Vice President of AGI-IGS
