Partnering with the Green Climate Fund: Opportunities for Businesses and Partners

Sala Ravezzi 2 Hall Sud

Scaling up climate action in developing countries requires technologies, expertise and partnerships that can turn climate investment into impact. The Green Climate Fund (GCF), the world’s largest dedicated multilateral climate fund, works with public and private partners to support low-emission and climate-resilient development across a wide range of sectors.
Ecomondo 2026 provides an opportunity to explore how businesses, financial institutions and other organisations can engage with GCF investments, with a focus on sectors relevant to the Ecomondo audience, including energy, water, green infrastructure, and climate-resilient agriculture and food systems. The session will highlight how private-sector expertise, technologies, and implementation capabilities can contribute to climate projects developed and delivered through GCF's network of Accredited Entities and other partners.
The session will provide a practical introduction to GCF's investment model and the different pathways for engagement, including project development and implementation, technical assistance and capacity building, downstream opportunities linked to GCF-funded projects, and co-financing. Selected examples from GCF's investment portfolio will illustrate these pathways and the role of different partners in advancing climate mitigation and adaptation objectives.
A substantial part of the session will be dedicated to interactive discussion, giving participants the opportunity to directly engage with GCF, ask questions and identify potential avenues for further engagement.
