The technical, economic and environmental sustainability of sewage sludge management has become a primary issue for urban water systems management. Recent objective national criticalities regarding the management of large quantities of sludge have greatly accelerated legislative and operational action for the application of eco-sustainable, innovative and locally fit-for-purpose solutions. The workshop will outline the current legislation framework, focusing on the real characteristics and observed impacts of sludge management using innovative solutions.
