Piergiorgio Recalcati

Born in 1966, he obtained a Master's Degree in Civil Engineering from the Politecnico di Milano, Milan, Italy, in 1992. Since June 1994 he has been working for TENAX SpA, an Italian company producing geosynthetics, and since 2006 he has been Technical Director of the company's geosynthetics division. He is a member of the IGS (International Geosynthetics Society), of the AGI (Italian Geotechnical Association) and from 2007 to 2015 and from 2017 to 2025 he has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Italian chapter of the IGS. He is a member of the ASSINGEO board of directors and is secretary of the IGS TC-H. He is an active member of the CEN TC 189 and ISO TC 221 committees. As a Designer and Consultant in Civil, Geotechnical Engineering and Geosynthetics with over 30 years of experience, he has gained expertise in various sectors, such as roads, highways, retaining walls, soil improvement, slope stability, erosion control, landfills, and geosynthetics. He is the author of over 100 international papers, mainly related to research on the use of geosynthetics in civil engineering applications in collaboration with various universities and research and testing institutes.
