Mauro Scalia

Biography

Mauro Scalia is Director of Sustainable Businesses at EURATEX, the European textile and apparel industry confederation, representing the interests of 200,000 textile/ apparel companies at European Union (EU) level. He specialises in European policy on textile sustainability. Working together with the 46 members of EURATEX and teams, he engages with the EU institutions and bodies to shape legislation that supports the sustainability transition while meeting the interests of the industry. With over 20 years of experience at EURATEX, he currently focuses on Ecodesign, circularity and digital data. Previously, he launched initiatives to improve market surveillance and to build up textile recycling in Europe (ReHubs). Graduated cum laude in Political Sciences at the University of Catania, Italy, he joined EURATEX in 2004 after working in business consulting, research and in the European Commission. Italian, he also speaks English, French and German.
