Maria Teresa Monteduro

Maria Teresa Monteduro is Director of the Directorate for Economic and Fiscal Studies and Research of the Department of Finance of the Ministry of Economy and Finance. She graduated with honours in Political Economics from Bocconi University in Milan, with a thesis in Public Finance, obtained a PhD in Economics and Institutions from the University of Bologna and a D.Phil. in Economics from the University of York (UK). She has been in the financial administration since 1999 and has held positions of increasing responsibility in the areas of economic analysis, tax policies and assessment of the budgetary effects of fiscal measures. She has been a SECIT tax expert, Head of tax and fiscal policies at the Department of Finance and a member of the Board of Directors of SOSE S.p.A. Since 2019 she has been a member of the Committee for the Direction and Coordination of Statistical Information (COMSTAT) at ISTAT. She chairs the Scientific Committee for the assessment of the economic impact of the interventions of the Transition Plan 4.0. She is a member of numerous technical and institutional bodies, including the Commission for the Report on the unobserved economy and tax and contributory evasion, the Technical Committee for the implementation of the tax reform and the Technical Commission for standard requirements. Her research activity focuses on the economics of taxation, public finance, fiscal federalism, economic modelling and environmental policies. She has carried out teaching activities at Bocconi, the University of York, and the Scuola Superiore dell'Economia e Finanze. She has represented Italy in numerous international contexts, collaborating with the OECD and coordinating the Working Group 'Tax Policy and Climate Change' during the Italian G20 Presidency. She is a delegated member of the OECD in the Inclusive Forum on Carbon Mitigation Approaches (IFCMA). She is the author of numerous scientific publications and a speaker at national and international conferences and seminars.
