Biography

Lucina Luchetti is a geologist and Senior PNRR Expert at the Abruzzo Region. She is on leave from her role as Expert Professional Technical Collaborator Geologist and Head of the Contaminated Sites and Landfills Office at ARPA Abruzzo. As part of her assignment, she provides technical and specialist support to the Region in the areas of contaminated site remediation, with particular reference to orphan sites, including landfills, and water abstraction concessions. She has gained extensive experience in environmental protection, dealing with characterisation, site-specific risk analysis and remediation of contaminated sites, including Sites of National and Regional Interest, among which the NIS 'Bussi sul Tirino' and the RIS 'Fiumi Saline e Alento'. Within the PNRR framework, she contributed, in collaboration with ISPRA, ISS and CREA, to the drafting of the Guidelines for the remediation of orphan sites consisting of landfills. In the field of water resources and environmental planning, she supported the drafting of the new Regional Regulation on water abstraction concessions, aimed at ensuring the principle of 'non-deterioration' and the achievement of water body quality objectives. She promotes innovative and sustainable solutions based also on the use of high-resolution field instrumentation for measuring soil gas and biogas concentrations and on the application of phytoscreening techniques and advanced phytotechnologies. She has also contributed to the regional process for determining background values in groundwater, integrating scientific, technical and regulatory aspects.
