Jan Tytgat

Jan Tytgat earned his PhD in Chemistry from the University of Leuven (Belgium). He has held several managerial positions at Umicore, including roles in laboratories, purchasing, and battery recycling. In 2012, he transitioned to Umicore’s Government Affairs department. Currently, as sr. Director of Government Affairs, he manages relations with public authorities on topics such as battery materials, raw materials, sustainable mobility, energy, trade, and recycling. Jan is the Vice-President of the Board of Recharge (the European Association for Advanced Rechargeable and Lithium Batteries), a chairman of EBRA (the European Battery Recycling Association), and a past chairman of the Trade Committee of Eurometaux (the decisive EU voice of non-ferrous metals producers and recyclers). Additionally, he serves on the steering committee of the International Congress for Battery Recycling.
