Evina Katsou

Biography

Evina Katsou is Professor of Water and Environmental Engineering at Imperial College London and leads the Resilience and Sustainability Research Group. She is also Theme Leader for Connected & Efficient Cities in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, advancing research at the intersection of resilient infrastructure, digitalisation, AI, circular economy and sustainability. Her research focuses on translating circular economy and sustainability principles into practical decision-making frameworks for industry, infrastructure and investment, including circularity metrics, whole-life sustainability assessment and digital decision-support tools. She has led or contributed to more than 50 European and national research and innovation initiatives and works closely with utilities, industry, regulators and policymakers to accelerate the transition towards low-carbon, resilient and resource-efficient systems. Prof. Katsou is a Lead Author for IPCC AR7 Working Group III, contributes to the European Water Resilience Strategy and Royal Society initiatives, and supports major UK and European programmes, including Water4All, DEFRA and Ofwat innovation activities. She co-leads the ICT4Water Action Group on Intelligent and Smart Systems and contributes to ISO 59020 on circularity performance measurement. She has authored more than 130 peer-reviewed publications and delivered over 45 keynote presentations, bridging science, policy, industry and implementation to support the scaling of sustainable and circular solutions.
