Sustainable management and reuse of sediments from artificial reservoirs for the development of a circular economy

The artificial reservoirs that are formed upstream of the dams, lose part of their storage capacity over time due to silting caused mainly by the sedimentation of solid material transported by the waters flowing into the reservoir.

This conference deals with the topic of the evaluation of the industrial destinations of potential reuse of the sediments present in reservoirs, their actual consumption and the technical necessary requirements, starting from an analysis by geographical regions of reservoirs, with reference to the current situation of silting and the industries present; are also identified possible alternative uses to industrial applications (release into rivers downstream of the dam, coastal nourishment, agricultural use, river banks, etc.).

Specific case studies are also presented.
