The blue bioeconomy sector has high potential in contributing not only to blue growth but also in supporting a green transition for industries. This one-day thematic workshop is organised in the context of the BlueInvest platform and shall bring together entrepreneurs, corporates, investors and stakeholders from the blue bioeconomy. It shall look into areas where European innovation can have a competitive advantage and potentially transform industries. The activities will tackle the several areas as, for instance, algae, novel foods, nutraceuticals, food additives and animal feeds, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics, green chemicals and materials, enzymes for green industrial processing or decontamination.

09:30 – 09:45 OPENING SESSION

Welcome remarks by Representative, European Commission and Representative, BlueInvest

09:45 – 10:45 RETHINKING THE GREEN – BLUE BIOECONOMY

Moderated panel format, with Q&A. Four key stakeholders from Europe’s blue bioeconomy sector shall present market opportunities and the most recent innovation trends in this sector.

10:45 – 11:45 FINANCING A SUSTAINABLE BLUE BIOECONOMY

Moderated panel format, with Q&A. Representatives from corporate, private and public investors, international initiatives and policymakers shall discuss the state of play for financing the green – blue bioeconomy, and present use cases that could model a way forward.

11:45 – 12:30 INVESTOR SPOTLIGHT

Moderated panel format, with Q&A. Up to five corporate and impact investors, venture capital and accelerators focused on blue bioeconomy sectors shall be invited to do a reverse pitch.

13:30 – 15:30 PITCH SESSION

Up to 10 high potential companies and projects from the blue bioeconomy sectors shall be invited to pitch to an audience of investors, venture mentors and coaches. The selected pitch candidates shall be provided with training and feedback prior to the session.

15:30 – 17:30 B2B MATCHMAKING SESSION

The BlueInvest team will facilitate 1:1 meetings for attendees of the workshop.
