For years we have been persistently trying to find new solutions to combat climate change and its negative effects on the agricultural sector. The solution developed by the “Black to the Future“ (co-financed by the EIT FOOD and coordinated by the Caviro Group) could really make a difference. The project, in fact, has tested the potential of a new amendant called "CBmix®," composed of a mixture of compost and biochar (a carbonaceous material derived from the thermal degradation of agricultural prunings) that can enrich soils with organic matter and combat desertification and climate change by sequestering CO2 in soil. Thanks to the participation of national and international agronomic and environmental experts from different organizations - Caviro Group, Enomondo srl, University of Bologna, CRPV Soc. Coop., Cyprus University of Technology, Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Cientificas (CSIC), Urban Crops Solutions, Consorzio Italiano Compostatori (CIC), and Associazione Nazionale Biochar (ICHAR) – we are going to explain the circular approach of this project and its main results.
